Where is My Mind?

it was a loooong, painful walk home from work today...

so i made the mistake of wearing my black sandals to work today. i swear i wore them to work before but it wasn't this bad. my feet hurt so much, and i got blisters and crap. it sucked, i was hobbling down the hallway to a couple of meetings, and when i'd get to my desk i'd fling the shoes off my feet and work barefoot. ("off you bastards!" i'd yell to myself.) on the way to class later in the evening it wasn't so bad, but it had started raining so when i stepped into a puddle, water would go in between my foot and the sandal and make it all slippery, which wasn't helping with the blisters (sick yet?, hee). after class i realized that i had a long way to walk to the metro, and then back to my place. and the pain and rain weren't letting up. walking to the metro stop seemed to take forever, but the worst was after getting off the metro and walking through the park back home. first the pain was getting unbearable and i was stepping sooo slowly cuz it hurt so much. then it started pouring. and as i was hobbling i think i noticed that my umbrella may have had some kind of hole in the top cuz i felt droplets fall on my hand. AND i was carrying my laptop in my laptop bag. man, it took forever to get home today. on a good day it'd take half an hour and i could catch the last half of Smallville. I think i got home around 8:45 today and missed most of the episode. oh, and because of the rain and pain, i had left my key in the keyhole when i got home and didn't realize it until Banjo came home and handed my key to me. whoops!

Fun things are happening this week. I actually get to give a tour of the NIH! I'm so excited, it's for the NIMH-COR conference so i get to see the HRPNers from uci, hopefully. The tours will be on a bus. i have a script and everything. and i'm helping recruit the kids for the summer and postbac programs later on in the day and friday, so i hope i get a free moment to walk around, get free stuff, and pass out my resume to grad schools, in case the whole med school thing falls through.

and next week most of the LBC will be gone at Neuroscience. Yay party time!
