Where is My Mind?

okay. Cabaret was really good. i wasn't expecting it to be so dark at the end, but it had a really good story and the songs were enjoyable too. i particularly liked the band and the dancing. but the best surprise about it was finding out who was playing the Emcee. I didn't realize it until i bought my souvenir program that the emcee was played by none other than ADAM PASCAL. OH MY GOD. i couldn't believe it. (adam pascal, for those who don't know, played the original Roger in RENT and some main character in Aida. he's way hot and has an awesome voice). i got soooo excited. and then i found that Sally Bowles was played by Susan Egan, who i've heard of before, has a really good voice, and may have played Belle when i saw Beauty and the Beast way back when. so all in all, i really enjoyed it.

Afterwards we headed back to the hotel and i got ready to leave, and headed for boston. I miss hanging out with my friends! it was so good to see them again. it was really cool seeing Nicola too; next time i'll try to get in touch with Karla.

so boston was pretty interesting. one funny thing was that i left a half hour later than the other IRTAs (who left from DC) but our planes arrived at the same time; mine may have arrived even a little earlier. the cool thing was that i checked in for my flight pretty early and i got to choose my seat, and i chose 1a. first fucking class! it wasn't much cuz the fare was the same for both classes but it was cool having a nice big seat all to myself.

the workshop was pretty intense, lecture after lecture, but i got a lot of the basics down now, which is good. and Nic got his brain scanned because he was everyone's subject for our experiments. i want my brain scanned. he even got to keep a copy of the mri scans. neat. as i said before, it was really cold there. it snowed thursday morning. but i had a good time, and the other people in the workshop were cool too. one woman was from austria doing a sabbatical at Georgetown and we had a chat about salzburg cuz it was my favorite city in europe. hehe, she said she thought it was TOO green. but it was so different from what i've known that i really liked it. and then we both bashed arnold. it was pretty impressive the caliber of the other people who attended the workshop, most of them had their PhDs, some were MDs, i bet some were MD/PhDs too. i hope to be just as driven as they are.

so i got back last night earlier than expected (the program ended early so me, saskia, and shruti caught an earlier flight home) and hung out with erin and her friends. erin's in town! yay. she's been here since last friday but yeah, i've been gone. but the cool thing is she's coming back to DC in january so i'll get to see her tons. i met up with her and Jeff for dinner and hung out with her and her friends around the city. we hung out at Cory's place and went to a latin/salsa bar in Adam's Morgan. it was a lot of fun. and more fun to be had for the rest of the weekend.

things are looking good. hopefully work will start picking up, i'll hang out with the irtas more, etc.
