ahh...i was thinking of past halloweens and fondly reminiscing about them:
freshman year: i remember we drew scenes from "The Raven" and posted them in Calmindon's living room...and we all went trick or treating in the University Hills. I was Lenore.
soph year: i passed this year cuz i had midterms.
junior year: i don't think i had a costume this year, but i think we had a "get-together" at our place, little alcohol, more games, i think one guy came in a costume cuz he thought it was a costume party.
last year: one of the funnest halloween celebrations ever. i was a skanky catholic schoolgirl, borrowed lynne's old imac skirt and all. i wore my old hs oxford shirt but it wasn't going with the skanky-ness (cuz i wasn't a skank in high school!) so i subsituted a more tightly fitting black shirt, which went better not just cuz of the fit, but because i bypassed looking like britney spears. and i had the knee highs and high heeled loafers to finish it off. lots of parties. i remember Dan's party, i went with Amanda, and got respectably drunk of what i realized later was albertson's riddled jungle juice. and stanford hosted a chicken and waffle get together, and we went to meera's party after that. it was so fun.
this year was pretty cool too...i went out with jenn and her friends. i dressed up in my Switch outfit derivative (skirt instead of pants) and we first hung out at one friend's place in virginia, and then some separated from then cuz they didn't want to go out (sigh, people getting older, it's encroaching upon us all slowly but surely!). us who did go out went to midtown M street for the Nightmare on M Street, which is like a discounted bar discounted bar crawl if you're in costume. it was a lot of fun people watching and seeing what people were wearing. a lot of sluts abound. i figured since everyone was slutty, if people couldn't figure out what i was i'd say i was a slutty businesswoman. the funny thing is, the blazer that i was wearing (which i got at a thrift store) was like, shedding. jenn and i looked at the tag and it was made of all these different polyester blends...one of them included polyurethane. isn't that styrofoam? my costume was way flammable, we joked. and the cleaning tag said "clean with a sponge. do not dry clean or iron." so i was snowing white pieces of polyester or something all night, it reminded me of shedding skin or something, it was a little disgusting after a while.
so we stood in line to register for this crawl and people watched while in line. then we found out we were in the wrong line and the actual line to register was longer. so we just went to another bar and hung out there most of the night. we saw an eeyore, a space guy, lots of greek goddesses, a pink panther, and the group that made the most scene was a group of guys dressed up as secret service guys that reserved a booth, GeorgeW and all (he wore a mask with GW giving a big happy grin). only in washington, we thought. beer and bacardis were $3 a bottle, i had 3/4 of a beer and 2 bacardis. by the time we left i was respectable drunk, and we took a cab to Babe's, this billiard bar that i've been to twice already (they like that place a lot, it's pretty cool). on the way i called Berkeley to see how the party festivities were going and it was so good to talk to everyone =) i miss them! they were eating chicken and waffles and playing mario kart (which reminds me, i saw a commercial for SSX III!!! and either jenn or her bf has a ps2 cuz i've seen it when she leaves her door open......)....so i talked to people as the phone was passed around, it was good. and at Babe's we ate some food, i don't really remember much from there...just eating. jenn and i took the metro back to bethesda to get her boyfriend and her car and i went back home for a nice sleep. and when i woke up today it was a nice hot 75 degrees outside. it was great.
let's see if the same thing can come about if i call people at scott's party...no expectations though.
