wow, what an interesting day so far...well first off i had about 4 hours of sleep b/c i went out with flo and co. we went to a chicken place in norwalk. i had to finish up tweaking with my budgie presentation so i worked on it in the car on the way there...i dont think i've ever done that before. i was hoping i woudln't get sick b/c i normally can't read or anything in the car. but i got most of it done, and ate some food and had very little to drink. that was fun. so i got back pretty late and the stanford folks were still hanging out in our living room; they'd made necklaces or something, which was cool. i got about 4 hours of sleep b/c i still had random things to do re. my presentation and i was chatting a bit, and i woke up at 7am. on the way to long beach, i remembered i wanted to go on the 73 north but i missed the turn, and lo and behold while i was on the 405 near south coast there was some commotion b/c of a fuel spill. so there was traffic. if i'd been on the 73, i would have never known. grr. so i thought i'd be a little late, and then i was going my merry way on the freeway and i barely notice that i just missed the exit. so i tried to go on the next exit but that was a freeway junction, so i ended up really farther than i wanted to, so i went on the next exit but i was still far. still i saw a "csulb" sign on the exit and i tried to follow it but it kept going and i didn't see it....which sucked. so i tried to backtrack but the entrance that was on my side of the road was for the 405 north (and i needed to go south) so i had to turn around AGAIN and finally got on the right road. i was a little late, but it was okay. but i felt harrowed, or something, nonetheless.
so, the conference was okay, ppl did their posters, but it was outside, so it was really cold, and michelle and i went back into the room to warm up and practice our oral presentations. everyone from uci did a really good job with their presentations, but i felt sorry for those who were really nervous. i used to be like that...in 8th grade the thing i hated the most was presentations. in high school they weren't as bad. after all my tour guide experience, i'm only nervous in the beginning of presentations and only if i do'nt know much about the topic. i was most nervous about if someone was going to ask, "so what does this have to do with mental health" or something to that effect...cuz my study's primarily behavioral and more on the basic science end of things....i kept trying to think of things to say in response to it but i generally hoped that it woudln't be asked. my friends kept teasing me that they would ask it just for the hell of it and scare me. hehe. fortunately they didn't...but someone else did!!! hehe they all went "awww" when it was asked b/c i froze and fumbled and all that i hate. but i kinda saved myself. ohwell. other than that my presentation went REALLY well! i'm really proud of myself. and my friends said i get better every time i do it, which is awesome. what's even more awesome is that the other students in the colloquium came up to me afterwards and complimented me on my study and my presentation skills! it was soo nice. i felt so excited =) so i feel pretty confident going into my Excellence oral in a couple of weeks. i hope i do well there too...
ah, time for homework. =P boo. and i have to do my mcat diag tomorrow. i'm thinking of trying the cnlm lobby for it.
but dan's party is tonight! yay.
