Where is My Mind?

4.20.2003

today was a pretty interesting day at the hospital...there were a lot of kids, though...2 boys had similar wrist fractures and the orthopedic doctor came down to help fix them up using a procedure called a reduction. one boy had a really bad, angular fracture where there was this nasty bump from where the bones were separated. the boys both had to go under ketamine anaesthesia (Special K, pretty much), and then the doctor started putting the splint on, and then performed the reduction, which is pretty much jamming the bones back in place...they make such a horrible sound! like cracking knuckles, but louder and worse. OUCH. one boy only grimaced but the other one was squealing and crying...we all felt for him. but the x-rays showed that the bones were pretty much back in place and the parents were soo grateful...i wish i could have a feeling like that someday.
