me being the nerd i am, i was thinking this morning about real-life figurative applications of the force of friction. Static friction is harder to overcome than kinetic friction, that's been well established - that is, it's harder to get things rolling than to keep things rolling. So i was thinking about how that can apply to real life situations not just those involving blocks on inclined planes...take, for example, oral presentations. i'm always nervous before orals and tours because my main obstacle is just getting started. but once i'm over that hurdle, the rest of the presentation is like clockwork. it can apply to many other things that we have trouble with at first but once things are started, it's not so bad.
i was thinking about that b/c my Excellence oral was on thursday, and i was sooo worried about being grilled by the judges but it wasn't bad at all. in fact, i got more grilled in long beach than in the excllence oral.
hm what else...today two people asked me if i went to georgetown because i was wearing the jacket i bought during spring break. it was a little weird that two ppl asked me in the same day.
