Where is My Mind?

2.16.2003

ohhh....i'm so tired! i don't know where the weekend's gone, but i have a crapload of stuff to do and the time to do it is just going...and going...and going!

so today's flo's bday! i joined her, ki, john, and her roommate john at tgif's after midnight to celebrate. unfortunately (and kinda anti-climactically) flo had forgotten her id! the rest of us drank what we could and then headed back to flo's to hang out....lots of dorm stories from the class above me...it was pretty interesting....although i couldn't contribute much to the conversation because my freshman year was pretty uneventful, but it was neat to hear what happened in the dorms the year before i came in. and on another note on how small the world is, ki is friends with greg sweeney, calmindon's RA when we were residents. this went on all night and into the morning and i ended up getting back to my place at 6:30 in the morning! it was fun, but i don't know if i can handle that on a consistent basis.

oddly enough, my brain decided to awaken around noon but the rest of my body was soooooo tired. amanda and david (hee hee) got to spend some time alooone while inah, tammy and i went to Mountain High for the afternoon to play in the snow (whee!!!!). we had a pretty cool car ride there because tammy kept giving us riddles to solve, riddles i've heard when i was a kid but forgot how to solve them. it was SO COOL seeing snow for the first time. i got to wear my new snow jacket - and it kept me warm! i love it =) the only problem was that my extremities were freezing pretty easily, namely my fingers and toes. but it was so much fun! we were there for about an hour and a half enjoying the snow and watching people ski and snowboard down the hills. it was so bright! and i made snowballs and threw them at inah and tammy and we had small snowball fights (we didn't want to violate the "no snowplay" rule and get kicked out or something) and tried to warm up a little by chatting and stuff, catching up some more (we miss tammy!). it was cool seeing all the people snowboarding and skiing; i can't wait to try it out =)

another car ride back chock full of stories, jokes, and more riddles, and dinner at tgif's (yeah, again) in orange. those two will never stop teasing me about "the best weekend ever." hee hee...so i've been saying that the LV weekend was the best weekend ever, right, and they took a playful offense to it and will never let me hear the end of it now. hehe, it's all in good fun, and i love my friends with all my heart. i guess i consider the LV weekend one of the best because it was such a new experience with new people and we all had a good time with what we had. i don't discount my core group of friends at all, because i've been the closest with them for the longest time. i guess i had a good time there because i was somewhat able to open myself up to the group and in a relatively short amount of time (seeing that it usually takes me forever to open up to people). but anyways, this has been a good weekend too! it's just that the threat of looming mcat practice tests and papers to write are beating me down right now...

so, i'm still super tired and not fully recovered from LV!

one thing i'm wondering is why these events have happened to me in the waning days of my college career...i mean it's a good thing it's happening at all, for which i'm grateful, but why now? when i have all this other stuff to worry about? another test of priorities? i am glad they have happened at this time though...i think if i experienced all this "typical college stuff" early on, i may have suffered in one way or another (academically, socially, emotionally, whatever). perhaps i cheated myself of the "typical college experience" the first two years (leaking into the third year) here because i had a boyfriend? because i had a friend for a roommate? those are decisions i made back then, and i can't change them, but i don't think i would if i had the chance. i don't regret going to uci at all; all the good things that have happened to me outweigh all the drama and pain that i dealt with that stupid 3rd year. i probably would've turned up a different person if i'd gone to SD, i wouldn't have met the people i've met, i wouldn't have the good things that i've been offered. perhaps somethign similar would have happened if i'd gone elsewhere, but i don't really want to deal with those "what-if's."

hehe, what was that one quote from "the lion king"? put your behind in the past?
