Where is My Mind?

whee! Vegas was fun. i went with my cousin, Kate, and some of her friends. it was a little interesting because they're the type of crowd i wouldn't usually find myself in, but they were a good crowd nonetheless. so we got there friday night and ate dinner, hung out a little, and instead of going to a dance club, we ended up at a strip club, of all places. this is what happens when apathy sets in. at any rate, it was very disturbing seeing a lot of topless women giving men (and women!) lap dances. very disturbing. the guys we were with felt a little awkward with us girls around. i got desensitized to the scene after a while. after that we walked around and played a bit at Bellagio...Kate's roomate won $100 at one of the quarter slots; she got a 7-7-7, which was pretty cool. we all got carded at one point (we got carded a lot). after we finished playing, we headed back to our hotel, and it was 6am and the sun was out! i can honestly say that's the latest i've been up since i don't know...kairos, probably, at which i stayed up till about 4 or so one night. but seeing the sun and not having any sleep yet was odd. i got 5 hours of sleep.

saturday we had a buffet brunch at Paris, which was good...i love crepes, they're so awesome. we watched the guys play blackjack at the tables...i kinda wanted to try playing too, but i don't know any of the rules and i didn't want to embarrass myself, being all honest and naive - you're not supposed to be like that or else you'll get pushed into things that aren't so hot. plus you can't have poker faces or anything like that since you don't know what the hell you're doing. i'll learn somehow. then us girls went swimming, about which i was very excited - i hadn't gone swimming in such a long time! i was the only one that did the most swimming...the others were mainly working on their tans (i, on the other hand want to get rid of my tan, or just not get any darker)...but it was so fun swimming. i've missed it so much! that night we went on the NYNY rollercoaster (very bumpy) and ate there...i got my food at the "broadway burger" place or something similar to that name...they had a bunch of posters of the various musicals and plays that have been on broadway...i'm proud to say i've seen quite a number of them. i was telling one of the guys that i want to make enough money to be a Founder of the Music Center and have my name in the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and be able to see all the shows and performances there. i love musicals so much. later that night, the others were planning on going to a house party, but i looked dead tired so i got sent back home (i didn't mind, i wasn't feeling a party mood anyway) and got tons of sleep. apparently during the night they tried to go to a club and one of the girls (who had a fake ID) got her ID confiscated so they coudln't get in and that pretty much ended the night for everybody, i think.

today we ate at Rio's buffet (champagne buffet!) and i think i got buzzed...i had a glass of champagne and sips of the others' margaritas and a cup of coffee. i was very jumpy towards the end of brunch and somehow managed to eat all three of my desserts even though i was full. we gambled for a bit and i won $50 on one of the slot machines and $5 on one of the quarter machines so i think i broke even regarding the money i spent gambling...but not on the total money i spent on the trip. no biggie though, i had fun. so now its back to a sense of normalcy - it's just weird hanging out with a different crowd. the guys had tattoos, which was a first for me, they smoked (cigarettes and some had weed), and they loved music i don't particularly listen to, with the volume going and everything. don't get me wrong, i dont mind rap/hip hop (it's the only kind of music i think i can dance to at clubs) but to have it blaring with the bass going gets to me after a while. i kept thinking of songs i liked (my nice, happy peppy, i don't know what to call it, light punk songs?) to get my mind off it. i dind't want to be too rude since i was in the minority.
