Where is My Mind?

6.09.2002

ah, busy busy busy. it's finals and of course, i'm procrastinating. the past two weeks have been fun, kinda bittersweet, though, with all the campus rep end-of-the-year stuff going on, people leaving and graduating. it's gonna be weird without some of them. the banquet was fun, and the retreat was too. i got rep of a quarter! i'm not sure which one because my gift says spring but the certificate says fall. it's neat nonetheless...i was not expecting it at all. in fact, i thought they had forgotten me when they skipped my name when the coords were calling everyone up.

erin's back from ireland! i'm excited. we went to souplantation for lunch on sunday and tried to catch up on the past 6 months and then watched the laker game at her house. it's so nice to have her back. now i have someone else to hang out with when i'm home =)

10th week has been so busy i forget what i did...but i know i was busy! papers, quizzes, labs, functions to go to. janet had her screenwriting and short film festival; that was a neat event. some of the films were pretty interesting. my favorite ones were the comedies. janet and i had an odd conversation about the neuronal implications of CCA syndrome - one of the comedies was this "documentary" on criss-crossed arm syndrome and i was trying to make some neurobiological sense out of it, for fun. everything's ipsilateral! anywho, my favorite film was this drama/thriller inspired by guy ritchie - it reminded me of a mix of Snatch and Trainspotting.

the reps also had a bonfire to end the quarter of training for the newbies (there wasn't one for us last year =( ). i really enjoyed it - we played lots of games, from ultimate frisbee to red rover and football. the newbies called me over first in red rover and my team slingshotted me over to them, but i still couldn't break through. one sad thing was that i was picked DEAD LAST for football, but whatever - i caught a pass, so that was cool. but man, running on sand tires you out so quickly!

so this weekend's dedicated to finals studying mixed in with some fun. during physics review i brought a bag of potato chips (the best kind, i found, from Minnesota) and i was trying to eat them in silence so as not to disturb the session but that would ruin the good taste i'd be experiencing. while contemplating what to do, the weirdest thought popped into my head - i wanted to eat in noisy peace. i laughed at myself a little when i thought of it. i also went to the last Live Nude of the quarter (so sad b/c three of the best people are graduating!), we made margaritas with tammy's new margarita mix, i think i had a semi-hangover this morning because i had a margarita and a cooler. it was a mild headache that went away after a while.

so yeah, i can't wait for this quarter to end. can't wait!
