Eep!!
I'm presenting my project in Gettysburg tomorrow! Wish me luck!!
So the rest of the weekend was kinda a drag since Christian was held hostage at work by his former supervisor. He spent most of Saturday and Sunday doing b.s. stuff and complaining about how incompetent his old boss is. Now, the guy is an M.D. and working on a paper that's been in the works for the past 2 years. One thing that caught my attention was that he didn't understand how scientific notation works. something like that baffles me. okay. to get into medical school most schools require math and physics, both of which usually have use of scientific notation. and in classes you generally use it for things, like in biochemistry or biophysics or whatever. i don't know if he was lying or not, but apparently he didn't have a clue how it worked. furthermore, he's been involved in a research lab for quite some time, and doing things with experiments usually involves sci. notation. it's something you frickin' learn in what, 6th grade? jeez! i know i have my problems with math and doing math in my head, but come on. scientific notation! who wants to see numbers like 0.00000000050??! the guy has a professional degree. my poor baby. i'm glad i never met the guy. only seen him in passing when he was in the office on friday.
i hope i'm not incompetent like that when i grow up.
off to gettysburg tomorrow! you know what that means? (after my presentation, of course...)...tax-free outlet shopping!
