mmm...an ugly saturday morning led to a beautiful after-rain afternoon. all the while i was at the NIH taking an mcat practice test. (and i'm going back tomorrow too because Pat's scanning. no sleeping in this weekend, sigh.) all in all it wasn't so bad. i got the exact same score i received on the real thing, so this is a good sign. a nice baseline to work up to a 30+. (i hope.)
what else has been going on...work is work. not much happening there. scanning this monday. the l.b.c. irtas all went out to lunch in Bethesda last tuesday for Nik's bday - good Thai food. We need to make this a regular thing. we were joking how since none of us were there, nothing would get done. hung out with erin/jeff & co, finally watched Lost in Translation (good movie!). one of lbc postdocs left for england and so he had some goodbye things going on which i went to.
one thing i find fascinating is how some of these postdocs are my brother's age. it should't be much of a deal, cuz we do have a big gap in between our ages, but it's interesting to compare. then again, some postdocs are younger than my brother, too.
i've driven around town a few times; it's nice to drive and get out. i don't really want to try driving around dc unless it's really necessary (circles weird me out). georgetown's not so bad, it's the parking that's a bitch. and all the construction/steel plates on the tround.
i feel the daze that my other working friends have expressed before. go to work, go home. go to work, go home.
oh! i finally went to see the dermatologist/laser surgeon about my scar. she said it's fixable. thank god. i had one laser treatment which was painless and quick, and she made a cream to help with the pigmentation problems. the cool thing is she said i can use it on my face too. i should milk her for all skin care advice while i'm at it (she's one of the top dr's in dc).
to beat the monotony (after mcats, of course), things i want to do:
go back to NYC and watch RENT on broadway
visit Annapolis and gawk at the hot naval academy guys
find a beach
cherry blossom season is coming soon, i can't wait for that
if it's not sold out, The Vines and Jet at the 9:30 club next next week
Margaret Cho will be at the Improv the week after mcats
Children of Eden is at Ford's Theatre till June
I'm really really looking forward to Janet, Julia, and Albert coming at the beginning of april :) My little whiteboard has a small list of ideas to do and places to chill and eat. And we're seeing The Darkness (sold out!) at the 9:30 club to cap off their trip. it'll be great.
next trip home: april 30-may 4. can't wait for that either.
