Where is My Mind?

sigh...another boring friday night...i guess it's a deserved break after hanging out yesterday.

eric was in town for his GW interview, and since everyone was barely back from Neuroscience i decided to take off early to hang out with him. i left work and took the metro down without getting in touch with him first, so i took it down all the way to crystal city only to take it back up to chinatown because he was in the city (my fault...i was thinking of getting off around metro center too cuz i didn't think he'd stick around virginia while waiting for me, and yeah, it'd've been easier for everyone to meet at a central location. ohwell!) so we finally met up and searched for a George W cutout, but didn't find any because most of the vendors had stopped due to the frickin' cold weather. so we walked, chatting, around midtown until hannah got off work.

he said chinatown has boba places! i need to go there and get me some boba!

i didn't know hannah was in the area! this is cool, a good amount of familiar faces are around. we walked around looking for a place to eat and decided on the ESPN zone (which is near the H&M! i NEED to remember this! hm, maybe i'll go there tomorrow.....) and chatted some more. it was soo nice to talk to familar people about things back home, and get updates on the people back there...good dinner, i had an apple martini, and then we walked around midtown some more, looking for a place to hang out. we went to a couple of bars and walked out cuz they were way crowded, and decided to hang out at Cafe Citron in Dupont. nice place! the irtas had a happy hour there i think one time when i was gone. i had my 2nd drink for the night (i.e. my last) and we all kept talking. topics ranged from his interviews, med school application strategies, poor dustin's condition (hope you get better, take it easy!), other people back home, parties, etc. i was properly drunk for the next hour or so. on the way back to the metro it was FREEZING, and i'd left my gloves back at my desk in my rush to take off. thank goodness the metros were hot and stuffy! i was NOT prepared for the wind! i'm thinking of getting a hat cuz i don't look that great in a beanie with my hair this length (H&M! Yeah!).

All in all it was a great excursion (this plus the HRPNers made for a great week), but i think it's back to normal at least until thanksgiving (2 more weeks, i sooooo can't believe it). more people should come visit!!!

today pat was showing me the ropes of operating the scanner. cool stuff, lots to learn. i went in the scanner to see what it's like, but i wasn't paying attention all that well cuz as i was going in i could feel the magnet exerting its effects on 1) my bra and 2) my boots. when i had stuck my head in prior to peek at something i felt my hair clip move. freaky. we were almost done and he was gonna show me the last part, getting the functional scans done when the power went out for like 2 seconds and came back on. it was so weird. and i knew i hadn't caused it! so the power was out for the magnet consoles, so we couldn't do anymore.
