Apartment hunting in MD
Oh, the dilemma...
So apartment hunting has gone okay so far, but i'm experiencing a lot of distress now that i have my options. I have to sacrifice something and i can't have it all. It sucks. (I'm such a spoiled brat too, that sucks as well)
Pretty much it's either 1) furnished apartments near NIH (with some NIH people) but no cable/dsl internet, so i'd have to go back to dialup
or 2) unfurnished apartments with cable/dsl included in the rent, near the metro stop just north of NIH.
i don't really have to worry about transportation because most of the places are near a metro stop and the NIH provides $110/month worth of metro money, so i'll be fine if i want to go to DC no matter where i live (b/c cuong worried me when he said i'd have to pay full fare if i lived one metro stop north of NIH).
aaaaaahhhhh. okay. i have been spoiled the past 4 years with fast internet service. Thinking about the future, would i need to be on the internet that much at home? Will i need high speed internet for things like uploading pictures for all my california friends to see what i've been up to, hopefully, with my new digital camera? sending videos? not hogging up a phone line?
Or, i found a few places with cable tv but no internet...how much are cable modems going for? i'd have to ask my landlord if cable internet is possible if i brought a modem and router. and the s that i'd be living with in those dial up places work at NIH so we'd have that in common. oddly enough one of the s i could live with might have gone to UCI! we were in her room and saw her pictures and i recognized one of the s in her pictures as a that had gone to the cambridge program with me. hmmm....
Or should i go for the unfurnished places with internet included but with people not working at the NIH? but damn near that Grosvenor metro station. I still really really like the first condo i saw. Brand ing new. wireless internet. cute cats. it's just unfurnished.....
we'll see how the last few places look. this one apt in grosvenor has dsl and near the metro too...
woe is me!
